Life has moved too fast for Mane at age 50. He watches the slow sacrifices of his ideals. His work in a small commercial shop and grocer’s has worn him out. Now forgotten with his past as a great football player for Mindelense in St. Vincent and Cape Verde, he only has the belated compassion of his friends and café companions. When training a youth team, he sees himself again in Kalu, a rebellious but talented youth. He hopes to regain his dreams when Kalu is called upon to play in the Portuguese Cup finals.

About the Director

Fernando Vendrell

A graduate in Film Production of the Lisbon Film School in 1995, Fernando Vendrell worked for several years as an assistant director before he established his own Lisbon-based production company, David & Golias in 1992. Since then, he has developed new film projects as a producer, director and screenwriter. His first film was Fintar o Destino shot in Cape Verde western Africa, and in Portugal. The film was selected to the Berlin International Film Festival Berlinale, Panorama in 1998. He produced director Zézé Gamboa's Sundance Film Festival World Dramatic Competition Award winner The Hero (2005). Learn More
