In Zanzibar, Seif, a 28-year-old heroin addict believes he is cursed. In a battle to be free from a life where he contracted HIV, Seif seeks help from a Sheikh. In a spiritual exorcism, the curse from his past is conjured up. Having confronted his demons, only time will tell whether Seif can lead a clean life as a true Muslim.

About the Director

Lovinsa Kavuma

Lovinsa Kavuma trained as an actress at The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts London then went on to complete a Film degree at the University of The Arts London. As a filmmaker, her films Rape For Who I Am and Kintu have screened at festivals such as Sundance Film Festival, London International Film Festival and Commonwealth Film Festival, picking up awards along the way. She was also Assistant Festival Director at The Zanzibar International Film Festival. Her 2015 short documentary, Curse of an Addict - Zanzibar, the haunting story of a young man gripped by drug addiction, screened at the Winter Film Awards in New York, the New York African Film Festival, Zanzibar International Film Festival, International Black Women's Film Festival and the Colors Of The Nile International Film Festival.
