Born in 1954 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, filmmaker, director and producer Nicolas Klotz has made several feature films, including The Bengali Night (1988), La Nuit sacrée (1993), Paria (2000) which received the Special Jury Award at the San Sebastian Festival, and The Wound (La Blessure), presented at the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs, Cannes 2004. In addition, he produced several music documentaries, including Chants of Sand and Stars (Italia Special Award 1996), James Carter (1998), and Brad Mehldau (1999). In 1995, together with his scriptwriter Elisabeth Perceval, he created the production company Petits et Grands Oiseaux through which they co-produced plays and films, including Paria (2000), The Wound (La Blessure – 2004) and Heartbeat Detector (La Question humaine – 2007). He is a Professor at La Fémis (Paris) and has directed several plays and video monographies.
