Rhuveneko, nineteen, goes back to her family’s village to claim her inheritance when the village holds a meeting to distribute land. Her father, Chief Matsika, died during Zimbabwe’s brutal liberation war in the 1970s. Now Ruvheneko’s uncle is Chief. As his greedy and corrupt nature is exposed at the village meeting, Rhuveneko learns of her father’s true nature.

Tapiwa Kapuya

Tapiwa Kapuya is a writer and has written scripts for the ZIFFT Short Film project. She co-wrote the films Kuzvipira, and Bloodstones which won a NAMA award. Tapiwa created the concept of and co-directed Dudu Manhenga’s music video Ewuwe. In My Father's Village is the first short film she has co-directed. Learn More

Tawanda Gunda Mupengo

Tawanda Gunda Mupengo toof part in the UNESCO Film and Television Training Project in Harare, Zimbabwe. He has since directed a number of shorts and documentaries, including Tanyaradzwa (2005) and Spell My Name (Peretera Maneta - 2005). He is one of the most promising young directors from Zimbabwe. In 2006, he took first prize in an Africa-wide film festival organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to heighten awareness about gender-based violence across the continent. Learn More
